Step-by-Step Guide: How to Use Scholarship Universe

Follow these steps to find, apply for, and manage scholarships using Scholarship Universe.

Step 1: Access Scholarship Universe

1. From the myBC dashboard, locate the “Scholarships Portal” card and click “Start Matching”

2. This will log you in to Scholarship Universe where you will be greeted with a welcome screen.

Step 2: Start Matching

1. Click “I’m ready” to answer a few questions.
2. Begin answering questions about:
   • Interests
   • GPA
   • High school
   • Residency
   • Other personal details

Step 3: Review Your Dashboard

• Once on your dashboard, you will see initial scholarship matches.
• As you answer more questions, your matches will improve and update.
• You can change language settings using your browser translation tools.

Step 4: Answer More Questions for Better Matches

1. Click the green banner: “Qualify for more scholarships by clicking here.”
2. Continue answering additional questions.
   1. The more questions you answer, the more matches you will receive.

Step 5: Navigate Scholarship Categories

1. Click the Scholarships tab on the left.
2. Review different categories:
   • Matches – Scholarships you fully qualify for
   • Partial Matches – May qualify after answering more questions
   • Pinned – Saved scholarships
   • Submitted – Completed applications
   • Non-Matches / Not Interested – Excluded options

Step 6: Review Scholarship Details

1. Select a scholarship and click View.
2. Review:
   • Open date
   • Deadline
   • Award amount
   • Eligibility requirements

Step 7: Take Action on Scholarships

• You can:
  • Click Apply
  • Pin for later
  • Mark as Not Interested
  • Provide feedback

Step 8: Apply for a Scholarship

1. Click Apply.
2. Review and confirm your information (major, details, etc.).
3. Click Continue.

Step 9: Complete the Application

1. Upload any required documents.
2. Answer additional questions.
3. Submit your application.

Step 10: Understand Scholarship Types

• School icon: Broward College Foundation scholarship
• Globe icon: External scholarship (may require third-party application)

• Scholarships listed as Open – Applications accepted on a rolling basis. No set deadline, apply at any time.

• If you apply to an external scholarship, a Leaving Website message will appear.
• If you wish to proceed, click OK and the application will open in a new tab. You may need to create a separate account on that site to apply.

Step 11: Review your Started, Saved, and Submitted Applications

1. Click the Applications tab to review the status of scholarships
   1. Ready to Start – applications you are eligible for, but have not yet begun
   2. In Progress – applications you have started but not yet submitted.
   3. Submitted all completed applications.
2. Once your application has been submitted, you can check back here to track where it stands in the review process.

Step 12: Review of your Awarded Scholarships

1. If you are awarded a scholarship, it will appear on the Awards tab.
   1. Outstanding – scholarships that have been approved but not yet credited to your financial aid account, either because the term has not started or the funds have not yet been received by the financial aid office
   2. Awards – awards credited to your account.

Step 13: Storage of Supporting Documentation

1. My Docs is where you can store supporting documentation such as resumes, letters of recommendation, portfolios, or any other materials useful for your scholarship applications.
2. You can add, edit, or delete documents at any time using the Add button in the top right corner.

Step 14: Review your Dashboard

1. The Dashboard gives you a complete snapshot of your scholarships in one place.
   1. Your universe, the funnel, tracks open and future matches: applied, under review, and awarded, showing the number of scholarships and dollar amount for each.
   2. The tiles on the left display a quick status of your partial matches, matches that you can currently apply to, and applications in progress, along with any information that must be followed up on.
   3. Each tile is clickable, taking you directly to the Scholarships tab to review details.
