Q. How do returns work when you use financial aid to buy books?
A. The Bookstore’s return policy can be viewed at https://broward.bncollege.com/customer-service (under Returns & Refunds).

If we are still within the charging period for using financial aid at the Bookstore, returns will be credited back to your financial aid account which will be updated in your student portal as outlined under the policy linked above.

After the charging period is closed, the Bookstore may still issue refunds by crediting them back to your financial aid account for several weeks. This may result in an additional refund being sent through BankMobile. After that time, students would receive a cash refund from the Bookstore.

You only need to present/swipe your student ID card in order to complete your purchases at the Bookstore, since funds are linked to the your account. If you do not have an ID card, you must first visit the Student Life Office to get your picture taken and receive your student ID card.

You can view all bookstore locations by visiting https://students.broward.edu/resources/bookstore.

Q. Can items other than books be purchased with the book allowance at the bookstore (i.e., computers, paper)?
A. We do not offer book vouchers.

If you have excess funds, it will show on your myBC account and once you have completed the Broward Authorization form (Section 2), resolved any ‘red flags’, and have been awarded financial aid. You should then have funds to use at the Bookstore on your Broward College ID card.

Q. If I am not eligible for a book voucher, what other options do I have?
A. For students that do not have excess financial aid to cover books, you may use cash, check, or credit cards.

The college also offers the following resources:

Q. Do you offer book vouchers?/How do I complete a bookstore authorization?
A. We do not offer book vouchers.

You are able to use a portion of your financial aid in order to purchase books and supplies at the Bookstore once you have cleared ‘red flags’ and have been awarded financial aid. If you have excess funds available (financial aid minus your schedule charges) it will show on your myBC and you may use these funds at the Bookstore. Students receive a rate of $60 per credit to use at the Bookstore (less if students do not have a lot of excess funds).

The book award only cover expenses from Barnes and Nobles. The books awards are not refunded to the students.

You must first complete your Broward Authorization form (Section 2) authorizing Broward College to use Financial Aid to pay for bookstore purchases.

  • The bookstore authorization only needs to be completed once, so long as the student stays in school. It must be completed again if they are out 3 or more terms (since out 3 or more terms would constitute them as a “returning” student).

NOTE:

  • For students that have Florida Prepaid, this will be available on your account for purchasing.
  • Veteran students can also use an external 3rd party voucher. Should you have questions, you will need to contact the 3rd party or the Bookstore.

Q. Am I required to complete the Title IV Authorization Form?
A. You will see the Broward Authorization Information Form in myBC as an automatic reaction (pop up) before you can move forward in the student portal.
