Q. Do you offer housing?
A. If you are need of shelter, food, or any other resources you can find resources with Seahawk Outreach Services (SOS).
Should you have additional questions, please contact SOS at sos@broward.edu.Broward does not offer student housing on our campuses; however, University Pointe is a preferred housing partner of Broward College.

Located just minutes from Central Campus, University Pointe has several different living options including studio apartments and 1, 2, 3 and 4 bedroom units.

Q. How do I schedule a campus visit/tour?

  • Prospective students and their guests are invited to take a campus tour to learn about our facilities, student life, culture on campus, academics, and programs offered at Broward College.

Q. Do you offer GED classes?

Broward UP offers Adult Basic Education and GED courses, among other learning opportunities for residents in our community to achieve and reach their UP – Unlimited Potential and beyond.Please visit the website for more information and to register: https://www.broward.edu/browardup/courses.html.

Q. Where can I find campus maps and directions?
A. 
ADA campus maps are available at www.broward.edu/about/locations. Scroll down to the bottom of the page to view the interactive map (allow time for the map to load). Once within the map, you can use the Search bar to search by building number, enter the name, and details will populate.

Q. Do you award credit for military experience/training?
A. 
You may be eligible for college credit based on your military educational experiences. Broward College may award college credit for military courses, training, and experiences through various evaluation methods. The three types of evaluation methods are compromised of the following three categories.

Type I is the evaluation of military courses as listed in ACE’s Military Guide for the following Army, Coast Guard, Navy, and Marines. Submit the Request for Evaluation of Military Courses as the forms page (under Advising), here: https://www.broward.edu/studentforms/. Air Force students must submit an official transcript from AU-CCAF, here: https://www.airuniversity.af.edu/Barnes/CCAF/

Type II is the evaluation of other military training and experiences through Prior Learning Assessment (Assessment fee applies and is non-refundable). Students interested in this option should send a copy of the Joint Service Transcript (JST), a copy of their current resume, and course name and ID they would like to challenge to CPL@broward.edu.  Program not available during Summer Term.

Type III is the evaluation of Credit-by-Exam, a variety of different tests are available through testing (fees may apply). Students interested in testing, please visit  Testing and Assessment, here: https://www.broward.edu/admissions/testing/. Students who wish to receive transfer credit for completing an exam, please submit their official test scores and transcript (except DLPT) to the College Registrar Office, here: https://www.broward.edu/registrar/index.html

Q. How and when do I get a student ID card?
A. 
The first BC student ID card is free.You can obtain your BC Student ID card by following the instructions below:

  • Step 1: Register for classes.
    • You must have paid for your classes in full (with financial aid or any other funding) within at least two business days to obtain an ID. For students on the payment plan, the first payment must be received prior to receiving an ID; for College Academy & Dual Enrollment, students must have registered for classes more than two days prior to obtaining an ID.
  • Step 2: Go to your nearest Student Life Office and fill out an information form.
  • Step 3: Show one valid form of ID (passport, driver’s license, military card, etc.).

Please note: If a card is broken or damaged beyond use, please bring it in to be inspected and replaced.

Replacing lost/stolen student ID card
For a replacement student ID card, the student can go to any Student Life office. There is a $15 replacement fee.

*If your ID card is stolen, and you are able to provide a police report or share the case number, the replacement fee will be waived.

Q. What is JumpStart?
A. 
JumpStart is a program for Broward County high school seniors that provides hands-on assistance through the enrollment process and becoming a student at Broward College.

With Jumpstart, students can:

  • Get hands-on assistance through the registration process
  • Get a jumpstart on college
  • Enroll in classes for Summer or Fall
  • Take a tour of our campus
  • Learn about student clubs, organizations, and student leadership opportunities on campus
  • Become a Broward College student!

Q. How many credits do I need to be considered a part-time or full-time student?
A. Y
ou must be enrolled in 6-11 credits for the term to be considered Part-time. Full-time enrollment status requires you to be enrolled in 12 or more credits for the term.

Q. Can I transfer other college, AP, and/or IB credit?
A. 
Other CollegeBroward College will review prior college courses that were successfully completed at other post-secondary institutions to determine eligibility for transfer.

Transfer students must provide official transcripts from all previously attended colleges or universities. Official transcripts can be mailed to:

Credits from accredited colleges and universities shall be evaluated and awarded in accordance with the practices set by our accrediting bodies. The college determines what credits are accepted as well as what will apply as a course equivalency and elective.

AP / IB / CLEP / Cambridge (AICE)
If you have completed AP/IB/CLEP/Cambridge (AICE) exams, the official certified scores can be sent directly to the Registrar’s Office for evaluation (must be sent electronically from the source). Student copies of scores are not acceptable. Courses that are approved by the state will be added to the student’s academic record.

New Transfer Student Incoming Transcript Evaluation
New transfer students are required to schedule an appointment with an advisor upon being admitted in order to receive an unofficial evaluation of transfer credits. Unofficial transcripts may be used for the unofficial evaluation with their advisors. Students need to be registered in the current term for the Official Evaluation to take place. Students may contact their academic advisor to alert them that the transcript has not been evaluated. The advisor will communicate with the Transfer Evaluation staff to request the evaluation if it has not been done yet.

Students must be registered for the current term for the Official Transcript Evaluation to begin. It can then take up to four weeks to evaluate.

Students can also visit the Registrar page to find a list of courses in TES (Transfer Equivalency Service) to assist them to understand how courses that are transferable from another institution.

Q. How do I correct a mistake on my admissions application?
A. 
If you selected the wrong admission type on the application or completed the wrong application and have been accepted, you will need to notify Admissions. The Admissions Office can update the requested change. This task can be done by visiting QLESS at https://www.broward.edu/students/qless/.If you have not submitted an application and have not been accepted, you may revisit your application to make changes by using the instructions under “Started But Didn’t Finish Your BC Application“: https://www.broward.edu/admissions/index.html.

Change Campus Location Selected on Admissions Application

  • You do not need to withdraw in order to change campuses. You can register for classes at any of the BC locations.
  • If you want to officially change your campus – mainly for the purpose of receiving the campus emails and being assigned an academic advisor at the chosen campus, you will just need to make the request at the Admissions Office or the Academic Advising office. This task can be done by visiting QLESS at: https://www.broward.edu/admissions/contact-us.html.

Q. How many credit hours can I take per semester?
A. 
For Undergraduate students that are in good academic standing, you are allowed to take up to 18 credits each term. If you have a strong academic record, you may request approval to take additional credits by completing the electronic Petition For Maximum Course Load with an academic advisor.Approval of the Academic Dean is required before it is processed by the Records Office.

For Dual Enrollment students:

  • Dual Enrollment students can register for up to 11 credits per term.
  • Early Admission, a form of dual enrollment, allows eligible high school senior students to enroll in at least 12 credits per term, Fall and Spring, and maintain a college GPA of 2.0 or greater.
