Transcripts

Q. What if I have no way of getting my college/high school transcripts?
A.
High school transcripts are not negotiable.

High School or College is closed:

  • High School – The student can contact the Department of Education in their county for verification of graduation. If they do not have a record at the school, the student will be notified, and they may need to get their GED.
  • College – When schools close, generally the schools make arrangements with the state licensing agency to store student records. If a student is trying to locate their academic records from a closed school, they should contact the state licensing agency in the state in which the school was located to ask whether the state made arrangements to store the records.

Transcripts from another country:

  • If they are High School transcripts, the student may need to get their GED.
  • If the country is in civil unrest or the school is closed, the student should contact the Broward College Registrar’s Office to discuss how this can be resolved. Usually, they need something from the Ministry of Education that states the records are lost or unavailable.

Q. There is an error on my transcript. Who do I contact?
A.
If you have identified an error on your Broward transcript, please contact your advisor. You can locate your advisor through your myBC > BC Navigate. Your advisor can assist you in getting your transcript corrected.

Q. How long does it take to evaluate transcripts?
A.
Once a student has registered for classes, their transcripts go onto an evaluation list. If you have turned in transcripts but have not registered for classes, your transcripts will not be evaluated.

NOTE: Students must be registered for the current term for the Official Transcript Evaluation to take place.

If you have no more classes to register for, and your transcripts have classes on them that you will need for graduation or to enter a specific program, you must make an appointment to see an advisor so that he/she can send a request for evaluation.

Transcripts are evaluated on a first-come, first-served basis. They will be evaluated by the end of the term that you are registered for classes in.

The students can check their unofficial transcript through myBC to view evaluated coursework. The transcript log is also accessible to view when Broward College received their final and complete transcript. The turnaround time for processing is up to 4 weeks. The students can speak with an academic advisor about the potential transferability of courses as they handle unofficial evaluations to advise students.

This tool will assist you in understanding whether courses you have taken at another institution are transferrable to Broward College: TES (Transfer Equivalency Service).

Q. How can I check the status of my outgoing or incoming transcripts?
A.

Parchment will send email updates to the email address provided, but you may also use the following steps:

Q. How do I submit transcripts from Non-Public Educational Institutions (online or home school)?
A.
Homeschool Transcripts:  Homeschool students must submit a notarized Home School Completion Affidavit Form under the ‘Admissions & Registration tab, that will serve as the student’s transcripts. The form will state that the student has completed their high school requirements and has graduated. The Homeschool Completion affidavit must be signed by the homeschool official Guardian/Parents and notarized. This form can also be picked up and submitted to the Admissions office.

Online Transcripts : Broward College accepts transcripts from online high schools; however, it depends on the high school, so students should contact the Admissions office to verify if Broward College will accept them.

If the transcripts are accepted, students should contact the previous institution to request the official transcript to be sent electronically to Broward College (school code 001500).
